Zephyr's bloodlines through sire and dam were Grand Prix quality horses and his original owner couldn't WAIT for her dream-baby to be foaled. Zephyr was born with a rare eye deformity; he is totally blind in his under-developed left eye and his owner was devastated. Since he was perfect in every other way - excellent conformation, intelligent, straight and highly athletic, his life was spared and his current owner got Zephyr as a beautiful, bold, muscular weanling. Well-handled, thoroughly 'sacked out' and exposed to all things from Llamas to 4-wheelers, motorcycles, dogs, deer, and more, he was sent to a professional trainer for ground work and to be lightly backed as a long 2-year-old for 30 days. He went back to that same excellent horsewoman as a long 3-year-old for 90-days of under saddle training, then came back home to mature physically and mentally until he was 5. At that time he spent a full year in 1/2 time training (3 days/week) with another professional for more ground work and training in dressage. Zephyr's owner has other horses which she was working with and he ended up spending most of his life after his good start in the pasture. Zephyr is now a strong, sound, healthy 8-year-old with a charming, playful nature who needs an experienced, confident new owner to get him back under saddle and take him to his full potential in dressage or jumping. Zephyr is being offered as a 'project' horse with a GOOD home being his owner's top priority. We have several little videos of Zephyr when started under saddle and in a couple of training level dressage classes from a couple of years ago which we can direct a serious party to. Zephyr has always had the best of feed and care and lives in Bend, Oregon.
