"Montana" is a very pretty dark brown ("sooty-black") 6-year-old AQHA mare with a beautiful refined head. She is nicely balanced with expressive and athletic gaits. She has lots of GO but is not a runaway nor a jigger, and she has many miles of trail riding and cattle herding experience as well as quite a bit of arena work. During the last year, Montana has been ridden on a rugged, hilly cattle ranch in east/central Oregon. She is accustomed to hills, water, 4-wheelers, and will go wherever you point her. She goes nicely in a group of horses or all by herself, and when taken out on all-day-long cattle drives in the mountains, handles herself well in rough terrain. This nice young mare has been professionally started on barrels and has great basics... she has been hauled to barrel races for time only, is currently loping the pattern well and is ready for more speed. Montana could make a great OHSET mount since she is versatile, willing, good-minded and athletic and she shows lots of promise to develop into a really competitive barrel horse. Montana shoes, clips and loads and hauls nicely. She is good to handle on the ground, easy to catch (even in a large pasture with other horses) and gets along well in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. Montana is up-to-date on her health care and lives in the high desert of central Oregon, a bit east of Prineville.
