BIG, CLASSY, CORRECT - WAS RIDDEN AT FOUR, NEEDS WORK BREED: QUARTER HORSE REGISTERED NAME AND NO: RALEIGHS RETREAT, AQHA 4467340 SIRE: BOOMER DEL RIO by DOCS ROLL BAR by DOC'S HOTRODDER, out of Aint She A Bonanza by MAJOR HERITAGE by MAJOR BONANZA DAM: Milady Buffie by SIR RALEIGH by SIRLETTE, out of Milady Queen by JOE QUEEN FOALED: April 23, 2001 SEX: mare COLOR: bay with a star, strip and snip HEIGHT: about 15.2 hands "Cupcake" is a beautiful, straight, seven-year-old bay AQHA mare whose sire and dam were both buckskin/duns and also registered as Foundation, calculated to be in the mid 90%. Cupcake does show some dun color characteristics, with a brassy/golden sheen to her bay coat, a subtle dorsal stripe and some shadowing over her withers. This big, muscular, easy-going mare wasn't started under saddle until she was a four-year-old so she could enjoy herd life. She was imprinted as a foal and received lots of handling and extensive ground-training, including being driven in long lines, prior to her ever being mounted, so she never showed any inclination to buck or bolt. As a four-year-old, she was ridden in an arena, along the roads, down the trails, taken through water and never refused anything. Then, when Cupcake was five, her owner broke her back when involved in a horse-accident on another horse, so last year, Cupcake was not ridden at all. Now, as a nearly mature six-year-old, Cupcake is still green but very well-started for a knowledgeable horseman to continue with her training. She has a quiet, kind mind and was totally relaxed when being saddled up for the first time in over a year for the photos above. Cupcake was ridden in a bosal and a snaffle, and was light and responsive and according to her owner, exceptionally smooth - especially in her jog or big extended trot. With Cupcake's excellent conformation including her good bone and solid thick-walled hooves, she should remain sound for many years of enjoyment under saddle. Due to her size, power, gorgeous long neck and reaching trot, Cupcake should also look wonderful English and may be fun to start in dressage too. Her owner is hoping to have a professional put a little more time on her as a refresher and also take her into the next stage of her training, which will be cantering with a rider. Cupcake is healthy, current on her shots, worming and hoof trimming and can be cross-registered with the National Foundation Quarter Horse Association if her new owner so desires. PRICE: $3,200 - might be negotiable to a great home CONTACT: carol@centraloregonhorse.com and please include your phone number in your email
