'Shiraz' has excellent
bloodlines and is enrolled in the International Breeders Sweepstakes.
His top side is filled with famous horses who have excelled in western,
endurance, halter and more; his dam's breeding too has outstanding show,
breeding and halter horses who are well known and respected throughout
the world. Shiraz's owner was never interested in showing him; he
was her best friend and trails companion. In 2005
he received 4-months of training and then was ridden fairly often until 2009 when the family (and young children)
relocated to Oregon. The last two years Shiraz has been worked
with on
the ground using Natural Horsemanship methods a couple of times a week, but his owner
has been too busy to keep him ridden. Shiraz is healthy, sound and
current on his shots, worming and hoof trims (he has excellent feet and
has never required shoes). The family recently learned they are
being transferred to another state, so his owner has made the tough
decision to sell Shiraz to a loving and active new home rather than have
him go to waste out in a pasture. Shiraz does okay in a stall, but
prefers to be out with others in a field or have lots of turn out. He
gets along well with other horses, is mannerly on the ground, easy
to catch and is accustomed to wearing a blanket in the winter (if you
look closely in the recent winter pictures above, you can see the
difference in his coat color on his neck as opposed to that which is
usually covered). Since Shiraz is energetic and athletic like most
Arabians, he will do best with a confident, fairly experienced rider. He
could be enjoyed on trails for pleasure or endurance, or perhaps as a 4H
or Pony Club project for a good young rider. Shiraz lives in Bend, Oregon and will be
sold with ALL his equipment, including halters, bridles, body blankets,
saddle and three pads, a Troxel helmet, splint boots and even grooming
supplies. We have a short video showing Shiraz turned out in an arena
too, if you want to see how he moves.
